The Importance of Children's Safeguarding Training

At Onside coaching we understand the importance of safeguarding children. Ensuring the safety and well-being of children is our top priority. One crucial way to fulfil this duty is through children's safeguarding training. We subscribe to SSS CPD and every year we have training from a leading expert in safeguarding, Adrian Over. This training helps equip our staff with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to protect children from harm and create safer environments for them to thrive.

Raising Awareness of Child Protection:

Children's safeguarding training raises awareness about child protection issues, including various forms of abuse, neglect, exploitation, and grooming. Our staff are educated on the signs and indicators of potential harm, enabling them to recognize risky situations and take appropriate action. By understanding the importance of vigilance and being informed about child protection policies and procedures, our staff can actively contribute to safeguarding efforts.

Identifying and Reporting Concerns:

One of the crucial aspects of children's safeguarding training is teaching our staff how to identify and respond to concerns regarding child safety. Training equips staff with the necessary skills to assess and analyse situations, enabling them to differentiate between normal childhood behaviour and potential signs of abuse or neglect. Moreover, it provides guidance on how to report concerns to the appropriate authorities, ensuring that children receive the necessary support and intervention.

Creating Safe Environments:

Children's safeguarding training plays a significant role in creating safe environments in various settings, including schools, homes, communities, and recreational facilities. Our staff are educated on implementing safety measures, assessing risks, and establishing appropriate boundaries to protect children. By fostering a culture of safety and implementing preventive measures, staff can create environments that minimize potential harm and maximize children's well-being.

Promoting Healthy Relationships:

Children's safeguarding training emphasizes the importance of promoting healthy relationships with children. Our staff are trained to establish open lines of communication, listen to children's concerns, and create an atmosphere where children feel safe to disclose any issues they may be facing. By understanding appropriate boundaries and the impact of positive role modelling, staff can build trusting relationships that promote children's emotional well-being and resilience.

Continuous Professional Development:

Children's safeguarding training is not a one-time event but an ongoing process of learning and development. It encourages staff to engage in continuous professional development, staying updated on the latest research, legislation, and best practices in child protection. By investing in their own learning, our staff can enhance their skills, adapt to evolving challenges, and contribute more effectively to creating safer environments for children.

Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSL)

At onside coaching we have five designated safeguarding leads with over 50 years experience between them. This alongside the training given to all staff members has created a culture of vigilance allowing for children to have the safest experience in our lessons and in our holiday camps.

Children's safeguarding training is a critical investment in creating a safer world for our children. By raising awareness, equipping staff with knowledge and skills, and promoting responsible actions, such training empowers staff to protect children from harm and promote their well-being. It is through the collective efforts of our training that we can build a society that prioritizes the safety, protection, and optimal development of our children. Let us commit to ongoing learning, vigilance, and action, ensuring that every child can grow up in a secure and nurturing environment.
